How Cxbladder works

Cxbladder is an advanced genomic urine test with an easy-to-use and non-invasive sampling system.

Cxbladder tests deliver exceptional performance and clinically actionable results. The Cxbladder suite of tests have now been used by over 5,000 urologists in more than 100,000 patients and are supported with an evidence portfolio that includes more than 25 peer reviewed publications in leading medical journals.

The sampling process

Cxbladder’s urine sampling system is quick and easy to use. The test is non-invasive and painless.

Only a small sample of urine is required.

Advanced sampling technology ensures your sample will be stabilized for analysis in our CAP and CLIA accredited laboratory. Refrigeration is not needed.

Your doctor will be sent a result within 7 business days of your sample reaching our laboratory.

In-home sampling is now available

To simplify and streamline the bladder cancer testing process, we are now offering Cxbladder in-home sampling. Participating patients have the option of submitting their urine sample in the comfort of their own home without the need to physically visit their Urologist.

The sampling process is simple and only takes a few minutes, with courier pick-up coordinated in collaboration with our Customer Service team. A special preservative in the Cxbladder storage tube means that your urine sample can be transported safely back to our accredited laboratories for analysis. Refrigeration is not needed.

How do I request Cxbladder in-home sampling?

Cxbladder in-home sampling systems must be ordered by your Urologist. Speak to your Doctor or contact us directly for more information.

The science

Research from Pacific Edge shows that messenger RNA (mRNA) levels of specific biomarkers are present at different levels in urine samples from patients who have urothelial cancer than in patients who don’t.

Cxbladder tests harness this research by measuring the gene expression of the biomarkers present in a sample of the patient's urine. The relative levels of gene expression allows us to predict a person's likelihood of having urothelial cancer.

How does testing work?

A small sample (5 ml) of mid-stream urine is required for the test. Once collected using our provided system and sent to our laboratory, the sample undergoes a precise set of processes to extract and purify the mRNA present.

In the Cxbladder test, each of the biomarkers of interest is quantified by a different probe, and the relationship between the individual biomarkers is determined with a mathematical equation. The calculated outcome provides a measure of the probability of the presence of urothelial carcinoma (UC).

What makes Cxbladder so accurate?

Cxbladder calculates probability objectively, without relying on people to count cells manually, so the results of this urine mRNA gene expression test are reliable.

With high Negative Predictive Value (NPV) and high Sensitivity, tests in the Cxbladder suite are optimized for the reliable rule out of urothelial cancer.

Cxbladder is a precision test that delivers exceptional performance and clinically actionable results

The Cxbladder suite is supported by an evidence portfolio that includes over 25 peer reviewed publications in leading medical journals.

Cxbladder Triage is now included in the American Urological Association (AUA) Microhematuria Guideline, the first and only urine-based biomarker test recommended with supporting Level A Evidence.

The Cxbladder suite of tests have been used by over 5,000 urologists in more than 100,000 patients.
